Then I hop in the shower and rinse the color out. If you don’t have any grey hair, you can leave the roots formula on for 20 minutes and the body formula for 10 minutes for a total processing time of 30 minutes. If you have grey hair like me, your total processing time will be 45 minutes. PROCESSING TIME | I leave this on for 10-15 minutes. Then I pile the hair on top of my head in a loose bun. STEP 2 | Once all my hair is saturated with color (this is so important, you don’t want any color gaps), I will gently massage my scalp and then pull my hands out to my ends, to really make sure each strand has even color. STEP 1 | Parting hair horizontally up my head, I apply the color in layers, working it out from roots to my hair ends. Body of Hair FormulaĪt about 25 minutes in, I mix up this formula in a clean, 2nd hair color bottle for the rest of my hair, which is already Strawberry Blonde, just to refresh the color. PROCESSING TIME | Once you are done applying, start the timer on your phone for 30 minutes. Apply color to your roots in even rows, blending out from the roots with the brush bristles to cover all new growth. STEP 2 | Part your hair with the pin tail section of your brush. You want to make sure the formula goes from looking like candy corn in the bottle, to an even golden blonde solution, so that the color is even on your hair and not patchy. STEP 1 | Mix thoroughly in the bottle by shaking the bottle for a few minutes (with one finger over the cap). Then next time, you’ll use this formula to touch up your color. If you are coloring for the first time, you’ll want to use the roots formula with level 20 developer all over for 30-40 minutes total. This is how I color my hair and touch up my roots. TIP | I like to apply a little oil to the bottom inch of my hair, to protect my drier ends while I color. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Roots Formula
